New Brutalism

We had heavy rain all morning. When it stopped in the afternoon I decided I had better head out before it started again later in the day.

I passed this multi-storey (15 floor) apartment block. It is one of eight similar blocks which were given listed status in 2021. It is considered a good example of the "New Brutalism" style of multi-storey housing. This block was built in the 1970s.

Aberdeen City Council appealed the decision to list these buildings. After review Thistle Court was one of those from which the listed status was removed in 2022.

Today was possibly the first time I felt I was overdressed for the prevailing temperature. I believe the temperature in Aberdeen may have just about made it into double figures.
