Sail Away

This boat seems to be getting ready for summer, and today we had indeed a hint of summer. Quite cool but blue sky and sunshine. It seemed like a good day to head to the coast.

We noticed Stonehaven looked quite empty considering the weather. Not nearly as many people on the boardwalk as usual, especially considering the weather. We did notice far more police around than usual. When we went into The Mariner for a light lunch they said we could go upstairs to the dining room, but the bar was closed.

They told us the Orange Order was opening a new branch in Stonehaven that day. They had wanted to march through the town. The march had been banned, but there was still concern there might be trouble. We discovered most commercial premises and all the pubs etc. had decided to close until after they left.

We had a nice light lunch and then decided we might be better off leaving town. In the evening we went to the hotel for a drink and then had a nice Indian meal. Despite the sunshine during the cay it rained heavily in the evening and most of the night.
