Minotaur

Not a real bull this time, but a mythological one: Michael Ayrton's Minotaur on St Alphage Highwalk in London's Barbican Centre. Ayrton was fascinated by the Greek myths of Daedalus and the Minotaur, and this bronze sculpture probably dates from the 1970s. There is also an amazing contemporary opera called "The Minotaur" by Harrison Birtwistle. I've seen it both times it's been performed at Covent Garden with John Tomlinson in the title role. It's very moving, and basically about an outcast who can't escape from society's prejudices...
