The team

The dinner to unwind after the conference was held at the local Thai restaurant - here’s the team, all Blackheath Rotary members plus a couple of spouses and ringins from other clubs.
We had a few very high profile speakers, the most notable being Yamagami Shingo, the Japanese Ambassador to Australia. He’s in isbi’s blip but her description of his address is understated - I enjoy listening to skilled public speakers and the ambassador was up there with the best I have ever heard. Brilliant!!
I have communicated with the first secretary of the embassy by text, email and telephone various times over the last months making sure all protocols were being observed and approached todays meeting with some trepidation but I need not have been concerned. Mr and Mrs Yamagami were very relaxed (and relaxing) guests.
Mr Y has obviously learnt during his time in Oz that the best way to get an Australian audience to laugh is to tell a good New Zealand joke!!
