A visit to Brian’s place!
The conference is done and dusted so, before returning to the Mountains, Rob and I dropped in on my old friend Brian. Now Brian has a lot in common with rustycrapp in that he has an interesting array of historical vehicles in his shed.
The main blip shows me perched on a 1960 500cc Velocette pretending to know how to start it.
Next is row of bikes - the red one in front is a 4cylinder 1400cc Suzuki which is Brian’s runabout. Behind this is a 1975 Kawasaki 900, the bee’s knees bike of the time, then the iconic 1961 BSA Gold Star. Two Velocettes at the back - don’t you love the fishtail pipes!!
Next a closer shot of the Gold Star and the 2 Vs.
Next is the 1948 Sunbeam S7, an absolute beast. A different type of beast is hiding behind the Sunbeam, a 1975 250cc Suzuki Hustler 2 stroke. My first road bike was the 1970 model, the scariest bike I’ve ever ridden!
Now cars don’t get me excited (they have too many wheels) but this one is interesting. It’s a 1965 Sunbeam (unrelated to the above), identical to that driven by Maxwell Smart except Max had the steering wheel on the other side for some reason. That’s the interior in the last extra.
Back home now to start preparations for the Rotary ANZAC Day golf day.
