Scarlet Elf Cup

Sarcoscypha austriaca
Found at the side of the path to the Leighton Moss Eric Morecambe hide.

This is sometimes confused with Orange Peel Fungus. But that is an Autumn species whereas the Elf Cups appear in early Spring.

The good news at the bird hide is that the Avocets are back.
