Mothering Sunday
Today has evolved from Mothering Sunday when those in service had this Sunday off to return to their mother church and also spend some time with their families. A far cry from the commercial event into which it has morphed today.
We made an early visit to Croome this morning. It was very busy with families combining walking with mothers with the welcome milder weather.
I was looking for photos that I don’t normally take here. Hence my longer view towards the M5, whose persistent growl competed with the robins’ song. The Malvern Hills are beyond the motorway with the famous Croome Japanese bridge in the foreground.
Inspired by our morning visit we set about planting the flowers and shrubs, that we bought yesterday, in our own garden this afternoon. Capability T, our head gardener has an excellent planting plan and it is super to see it beginning to take shape. The bags of top soil that we bought yesterday will be delivered early this week so it is important to have the new raised beds ready. We have put compost, and twigs, with a foundation layer of some sharp sand to assist with the drainage.
