Black and white

I took the dog for a 3+ mile walk this morning along the banks of the Lune to the viaduct. From there you could see down the river to the castle and priory.

It is a grand viaduct with balustrades and imposing arches. There were rowing boasts on the river but this picture of a barge making its way along the canal is my favourite.

It gets the name “The Black and White Canal” from the coal and the white limestone it used to transport.

A walk back to the apartment via the canal towpath made for a pleasant morning as I tuned in to the church service back home.

It was then on to see our grandson and to celebrate mothers’ day - and get some more cuddles from the wee man.
