A favourite from my childhood was the poached egg plant.

I saw some at Calke Abbey last year and spoke to the gardener when they’d unexpectedly vanished.  She explained that they were protecting the broad beans from insects and they’d been cleared away. She found me some, though.

They’ve survived.

And today I also found a packet of seeds too, in Morrisons.
