Signs of Spring

I have blipped the first emerging snakes head fritillary flower in our garden in previous years. In fact I wouldn’t be surprised to find I’ve blipped it every year. I’m always glad to find it’s still here, and good to find it flowering on the first day of astronomical Spring, the Spring equinox.

As sometimes happens with a macro-ish shot, looking at the image I notice something easily missed. Going up the flower stalk from the flower, and just before the stalk is crossed by a leaf and to the right of the stalk, something is peeping out. It looks to me like a minute aphid. Another sign of Spring, although maybe not quite as welcome.
