Le Pont du Gard …

… which we visited this afternoon with our Road Scholar group. It was a 45 minute bus ride from our base in Avignon. An aqueduct built by the Romans in the 1st century AD, the Pont du Gard is incredibly well preserved and today is a UNESCO world heritage site.

We spent the morning in Arles visiting its Roman arena and theatre and walking through the old town and visiting its large Saturday market.
