Gillingshill Nature Reserve

I blame Geordie. Surely it wasn’t my idea to go somewhere with so many steps, for our walk this morning! When we got in the car I had no idea where we were going to go, then I thought let’s go to Gillingshill, we haven’t been there for months. Lots of fresh sniffs for Geordie and lots of painful steps for me. Not a wise move, but, then, I’m not sure I even have sense, never mind wisdom!
Extra is a collage of lichen, algae and moss. Because the nature reserve is in a gulley where the river runs down from the reservoir it can be quite damp. There are trees just covered in lichen. Beautiful to see but difficult to photograph and do them justice.
