The Knife Angel at Guildford

This morning we went to a rainy Guildford to see the Knife Angel outside Guildford Cathedral. The Angel  was 4 years from conception to being finished (2014-18) ; it involved all 43 constabularies in the U.K. who helped collect over 100,000 knives from the streets of the U.K. it is 20ft tall and was made at the British Ironwork Centre in Shropshire with the help of artist Alfie Bradley. There are so many different types of knives in the sculpture when you see it close up.

The sculpture has been displayed in many towns across the U.K. and at the end of March it will travel up to Bradford for April and then to Crewe for May. It is also called the National Monument against Violence and Aggression.

I also had a quick look round the cathedral which seemed to be busy with school parties! I think it warrants another visit at some point for a good look round and there is a free car park plus a cafe there.

After the lovely sun yesterday it was very misrable to have a journey all in the rain today!
