Yao Ming...of larkspurs

At lower elevations (read: 7200 feet or so) wildflowers are beginning to bloom. Among the early bloomers is a larkspur. A field near my house contains them, so it was quite exciting to take the wildflower book out to see what was making such brillient, albeit small, spots of blue out in the grasses and rocks.

Left alone, a larkspur grows about five inches high. However, my neighbor Drew transplanted one from the field to a garden near his door and gave it a dose of fertilizer. The result? The Yao Ming of larkspurs!
