Success!!
We did our trial pack today and we have one bag at 6.3kg and the other at 6.95kg. We wanted to be 7kg or under, so that’s a win. We’ll also take our small brown backpacks as our “personal” item. I’m so relieved but also very satisfied that our plan has worked.
We’ve worked really hard all day. MrMacD condensed all our bike bags by packing them inside one another, and put the covers on our Bromptons. He’s also brushed all the cobwebs off our eBikes, which we’ve had no choice but to store in the carport. He emptied out the composter and put the compost from the first half on the garden. The compost in the making has been dug in and the composter has been hosed out several times. The friend who took the worm farm is going to take the composter, which is great. I’ve folded all our hanging clothes except for MrMacD’s jackets and a handful of my dresses, which will go into wardrobe boxes. We’ve also put aside clothes for the next couple of weeks, plus clothes for our trip to Oamaru when we return from Europe and the UK. MrMacD has taken down most of the pictures so the walls are looking very bare now. I also spent some time catching up on fellow blippers’ journals.
Tomorrow is our last day of preparation and one of the important things is to take everything out of the fridge and freezer over to my sister’s so the fridge can be turned off ready for uplift. It will also give me a chance to clean it. I’ll do one last load of washing tomorrow, then the washing machine can be disconnected ready for uplift. Slowly but surely we’re getting there.
The blip shows the lovely soft sunset tonight and the two bags packed and ready to go.
