Fire Service & Salvage Corps Memorial
Glasgow Necropolis.
The seventeen men killed in the Cheapside Street fire in March 1960, and the seven men who lost their lives in Kilbirnie Street in August 1972 are buried here. The funeral in 1960 was the largest ever seen in the Necropolis. Every year a memorial service is held here for families and colleagues. It was also agreed that the wives of those who died could be buried here with their husbands. More information here.
I am always drawn to this part of the huge burial site, so many celtic crosses in this section. Good light today up on the rock with great views across the city.
