Charred Birches

I don't know when this area suffered a fire, but looking at the bottoms of the tree trunks and dead bracken on the ground it definitely wasn't last year.  Sadly a number of the birch appear to have succumbed to the damage in this area.  The weather conditions were sublime and after so much rain in March the sunshine was very welcome.

Afterwards we visited family for an evening meal and catch up with a birthday girl.
