Parliamentary elections
After slow morning we picked up Emma and drove to Kangasala, to Lamminrahka area, where we had a lovely sunny walk in the woods. We had lunch by a camp fire and then walked back to our car under power line (see the extra)
There has been electricity in the air in Finland, because today was parliamentary elections day. We voted after our hike, Emma in Hervanta and we in the Pirkkala main library. Exceptionally, we had election coffee from thermos bottle in the woods already before voting.
Now that 98,9% of votes has been counted, it looks like that the National Coalition Party will win the most seats in the parliamentary election, with 48 MPs, an increase of ten spots from 2019.
Next is the Finns Party with 46 MPs. The Social Democratic Party is in third place with 43 legislators.
The Centre will drop eight seats to 23, with 13 for the Greens, 11 for the Left Alliance and nine seats for the Swedish People's party. The Christian Democrats are forecast to get five seats, with Movement Now taking one.
In the picture is Lamminrahka swamp area, it has interesting history. Finlayson factory bought the area in 1897 and next year they built there narrow (600 mm) railway track. It was 2 km long, and started from the swamp and ended to the shore of Näsijärvi in Olkahinen bay. They transported peat from the swamp to the factory, first by wagons (that did not have engines) and then by boats. The track was dismantled in 1919.
+1,6 °C, sunny
