A day of halves

Woke to low cloud and rain so we eased ourselves out of the house just before mid day as the sky lightened a little. We headed off on the hunt for artist at work and found two. A potter and a woodturner. Both were wonderfully welcoming and generous with their knowledge. We spent with one and chatted with the other. we’d a plan to tour the coastline we hadn’t visited but hunger overtook us and we ended up in Kirkwall at a delicious little eatery come shop and by the time we had eaten the sun was out again so ice creams it was! Half of us went home then while we set off to do the coastal trip we’d planned for the morning. It is less easy to drive with someone your conscious suffers from travel sickness. We had a lovely drive to the brough of birsay where the tide rose and nearly cut off the causeway.. phew.. all back in time (just)
Supper and bed is calling now
