Another Languedoc year...

A rare sight

I haven't seen cows for years. Living among vines, fig trees and olives for the past twelve years we are more used to seeing goats and long-eared sheep.

However, we've moved a twelve minute drive inland, away from the Mediterranean. The landscape is very different; the mountains are covered in trees and the vines give way to pasture.

Today, having just returned from a one-day visit to London for the Chelsea Flower Show, I drove to get the dogs back from the kennels. I passed these beautiful cows standing in shoulder-high grass. We've had a huge amount of rain this spring and the cows obviously can't keep up with the mowing. And neither can I! Our vines are shoulder-high in grass too.
