What's luck got to do (got to do) with it?
Burntisland is getting ready for summer. And summer means...the SHOWS!
I am a 100% complete and utter fan of all things fairground. I will take a crazy and cobbled together fun fair over the slick and stealth approach of Disney and any other massive, lucrative 'fun land' place any day.
I remember the excitement of being wee and knowing you were going to the shows that night. Walking round the corner hand in hand with my Mum and seeing the lights of the shows, the 'boom-boom' of the music floating on the air. The smell of candy floss and various things deep fried.
Before moving here the thing that most people remembered was the shows. I remember speakin to Richie (great Blip today by the way) at the weekend and he set the scene for something every kid at the shows would be familiar with. Your Mum/Dad telling you how much you had to spend "once it's gone, it's gone. And don't go for the first thing you see. We'll walk around and you can see what there is and then you decide".
Inevitably, you'd end up going on the first thing you saw.
I'm sure the novelty of the shows being here will wear off (for us, faster than the kids no doubt) but if nothing else, there's going to be some brilliant photo opportunities.
I couldn't resist this one. I nipped down to pick Arlo up from his FIRST FIFE PLAY DATE (success!) and couldn't get over how like the closed-down shows in the Scoobie-Doo cartoons it looked. I know in a couple of days time this place is going to be heaving thriving, but for now the fairground folk are getting settled in, taking walks, chatting to each other, getting set up and taking it easy.
Scream if ya wanna go fasterrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!
I actually cannot wait.....
