The Solitary Tree
A solitary tree leans over the misty lake.
First day out "off roading" with the camera since hurting me knee on our trip to Oregon. Since then I have had it strapped up at points and been trying to kind of take it easy on it where possible.
So I was across on the swampy other side of the lake from where I got this shot taking photos of spiders on wet misty webs when I crossed a little stream. As I stepped onto the bank I had to twist my foot because something was in the grass and as I put my weight down... Pop/Squelch went my knee audibly.
A quick rush of sharp pain and some cursing and I tried to move on... only to find a lot of pain and my knee informing me that it was not going to support me. Luckily I had my tripod with me so I put my camera in my backpack and started to move on using the tripod as a crutch... then it started to rain.
It took me most of an hour to go the last 1/3 around the lake across streams and through swamps to reach the corner of the lake to get the trail back to the car. There were points when I stood there with rain and sweat dripping off me wondering if I was going to be able to make it.
So a trip to the doctors and then an x-ray and now I have a visit to the orthopedic doctor next week to look forward to. I still cant put weight on the knee (its the next day as I type this) and have to use crutches to get around...
Ah well, youve gotta laugh havent you :-)
