That's Life!

Drive-in Shopping . . .

Bit of excitement down at the mall this afternoon when a car smashed through the window of a home outlet store. Flashing lights, firemen with big poles, yellow police tape and a couple of ambulances drew cameras out of every handbag in sight . . .

"Where's the car?" we asked a fellow snapper. "Ah, it went right through the window and is inside the store," was the reply.

So went inside the mall entrance, where we were greeted by a preening, red-faced security guard, bellowing inane orders at everyone and everything in sight, including a distraught white-haired old lady, who had almost been crushed by the marauding car as she was leaving the store. We guided her to a coffee shop to help her relax before driving home . . .

Seems we have a problem with drivers and shop windows in Georgetown: a year ago, a car wiped out the front of a fitness studio a short distance away from this store; a couple of months later, just as its windows had been replaced, another driver removed them again.

We're having the brakes and steering on the Rustbucket checked before we venture in that direction again . . .
