Haven Can Wait . . .

In Toronto this afternoon, we passed this place right next to the massive Ikea warehouse. It used to be a strip club. It still looks like a strip club. But it isn't. Not any more. The Devil has been kicked out. God has moved in.

The Casino Adult Lounge has been transformed into the Haven On Queensway, a Christian outreach centre that looks after people in poverty. Now, instead of feasting on naked flesh, punters can "find food, clothing, a cup of coffee, a smile and an encouraging word".

Whatever next? Perhaps Ikea will be converted to an outreach centre for failed furniture assemblers. If they're like me, they'll need lots of coffee and encouraging words . . .
