A grand day out
Up early, 04:45, to get out to that London for... reasons. I wasn't driving, which was cool, but I was shotgun to check the route as I will probably be doing it a few times in coming months. We had a coffee in a Gail's - which was very nice - and then parked in Hyde Park. Jemma is training for the London marathon, so she wanted to go for a run. I offered to go with her and set the pace, but she said that she'd prefer to go at her own speed, so I went for a mooch.
I visited the Science Museum and headed for the space exhibits - today is the anniversary of Gagarin becoming the first man in space - it was in 1961. I also hit the Information Age exhibit for pretty obvious reasons; I'm supposed to know about that stuff.
Then Jemma joined me and we went for a Japanese meal in Tombo - it was smashing.
We still had time to kill so we dodged into the V&A to avoid the rain. It was a big contrast to switch from the Apollo 10 command module and the birth of the web to Buddhist artifacts from two thousand years ago.
We set off for home as the storm hit, so it was a tough drive but I'm back home and planning to grab a disco nap before bedtime. I've done just shy of 12k steps and my feet and knees are complaining so I think I'll take it easy tomorrow.
The image is a detail from the science museum building. The extras include my lunch, the Gail's bread display, Apollo 10 CM, an Enigma machine and the head of a statue of the Buddha which is about 1500 years old.
