Wonderful Spring hike

Tuesday
We are enjoying a glorious spell of weather at present, very welcome after all the rain and gloomy days we’ve had lately, so we felt it was a good day for a hike, and we chose Sugarcreek Metropark in the Dayton area for our destination. We had hiked here once before, two years ago, and whilst there were some aspects I had remembered, other parts were less familiar. Part of the trail ran alongside Sugar Creek, with a couple of sets of stepping stones along the way, see top left in my collage. There seemed to be several benches and a couple of swings along the trail, that we didn’t remember from last time. The one in the lower left of my collage had a recent plaque on the back, in memory of a man who had been a frequent visitor to the area, and I assume it was his family who had left the Easter cross in the corner. The central flowers/plants are from top to bottom Yellow trout lily, May apples and Toadshade trillium. The right hand photos are Large flower Bellwort and the opening leaves and flower of the Buckeye tree. It was a beautiful hike of just short of 5 miles, with numerous ups and downs, so we got a decent work out!
