Blue On Garlic

About the size of an American dime, this native Ceraunus Blue butterfly, Hemiargus ceraunus, was visiting my neighbor's Wild Garlic bulbs as we walked by this morning. I wasn't able to get a photo of the upperside of its wings which, in the male, show a beautiful light blue color. One of this beauty's favorite caterpillar hosts is Partridge Pea, a native shrub that we grow in our yard. Check the *extra...for two more photos.
