First kayak outing of the season!
Thursday
With a beautiful warm sunny day in store, we felt tempted to lower the kayaks from their storage over the cars in the garage, and head out to Stonelick Lake for a first paddle of the season. The water was still a little muddy looking after the winter, but beautifully still and calm. It was very quiet on the lake, initially just a couple of fishermen, then as we returned we saw a couple of other kayakers. There were several campers in the campground. There were lots of turtles sunning themselves on logs sticking out of the water, but they were very skittish, and as soon as they detected us approaching, would slide off into the water. We saw a couple of Osprey flying overhead, and inevitably a number of herons. We spent a lovely couple of hours out on the water, not paddling all the time, but just enjoying the sun and the beautiful sights of nature coming back to life after the winter.
This evening we were out at handbell practice and choir as usual - some new pieces to learn for both. Tomorrow is forecast to be cooler with more cloud about, but it’s been a lovely spell of warm sunny weather, for which we are so grateful!
