Not our day.

Last game of the season. League decider, promotion on offer. Won nine games in a row…. but sadly, didn’t do enough today. I’ve seen them play better, and some yellow cards didn’t help. Ultimately the opposition won by a points difference of one point at the end of the game, and move up to Division 1. Younger son and his team left nothing in the park, that’s all anyone could ask for. They’ve had a wonderful season regardless of today. Good travelling support, we were there with family and friends. It’s too easy to be dismissive and say “always next year” - for many of the players it was their chance to reach their highest achievement individually, as well collectively. Next season won’t be easy; reorganisation means four teams are coming down from the league above. Rugby is a tough game; it’s great to see the tunnel where they clap off the opposition. Good etiquette and respect shown after the fray.
