U Got The Look

A full service and makeover today. Started with a haircut - which was nice - before moving on to the dentist. Which was definitely not nice. Actually, the dentist himself wasn’t so bad and, apart from the usual lecture about removing the broken wisdom tooth (doesn’t hurt, been like that for years and can’t afford it, so never going to happen), I got a clean bill of health. I even got a chipped tooth painlessly filed smooth.
The hygienist was a totally different kettle of fish. Usual waterboarding torture to remove plaque, and it looked like the aftermath of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre when I rinsed after she’d finished. And then I felt a very rough bit on my tooth which definitely wasn’t there when she started the torture. She reckoned it was a big bit of plaque that had been knocked off, I’m convinced she chipped the tooth during the cleaning process. She did offer to grind it smooth, but it was nowhere near the painless process the dentist had employed and I think she may have taken a bit too much off as that tooth now feels too low. To add insult to injury, they initially charged me £60, which sounded quite reasonable, but then called me back as I was leaving, to demand another £75 because the dentist had been tardy in updating the system!
Finally, I went to the optician to collect my new glasses. It looks like they’ve actually got the prescription right (at the second attempt) but my eyes are struggling slightly to adapt and I’ve developed a niggling headache.
But I am very pleased with my new Ray-Ban sunglasses. Unlike the last pair I owned, it is now possible to have official Ray-Ban varifocal lenses so you can have the correct tint, etc. There’s a very good chance those shades will be appearing at a gig in the near future…
