St Paul's
Mary from the local Arts Society organised a guided tour to see the art in St Paul's cathedral. Wow, I didnt realise there are so many masterpieces including a beautiful Henry Moore mother and child, a Rodin bust and a Jacob Epstein. Plus loads of other fascinating paintings, sculptures and video installations.
So many stories including an explanation of how, thanks to extra reinforcements in the 1920's, the cathedral survived a direct hit in the blitz.
On leaving it was lunchtime and I passed a group of picnickers taking advantage of the steps around a cross in Paternoster Square. I had to get a picture of this cheerful couple enjoying ice creams in the sun.
A great trip and thanks to Mary for arranging it.
