Pasqueflowers - but few Dandelions
I visited Barnack Hills and Holes and Castor Hanglands this afternoon, checking them out in advance of the upcoming BSBI Dandelion recording weekend (there are over 250 species in the UK and very few have ever been recorded from our area).
Although the Pasqueflowers are now putting on a show at Barnack, there were surprisingly few dandelions. Thankfully, there were lots more at Castor Hanglands, where there is also a particularly fine show of Marsh-marigolds.
After being the driest I'd ever seen it last August, the Pond Leg is now almost the wettest it's been for a while, with a lot of surface water - definitely need wellies or stout walking boots!
