Chili

Chocolate chili con carne with pinto beans, and salad with pickled turnips and olives. Wine: Andrew Murray Mourvedre 2019.

I often put a bit of dutch processed cocoa in chili, but this recipe called for a fairly substantial amount of sweet chocolate. While that sounded a bit out there, the recipe is by David Lebovitz so I tried it (he has yet to fail us, and his recipes are seldom less than excellent). It was actually quite good with flavors in a mole direction. Pickled turnips are a favorite pickle in out house, so I wasted no time putting a batch that finished today to work on tonight's salad.
