Inspired by a beech hedge.
Here come the first of the new season’ s leaves, moving gently in the breeze. The remainder of the hedge still retains its crispy brown leaves.
Our family garden was enclosed by an old beech hedge. I always knew which section would come into leaf first. In the late summer, after the birds had flown, I would tame it’s growth with the hedge trimmers, shaping it ready for the ravages of winter.
