Getting There
Regular followers of my ‘Blip’ will know that Thursdays are spent at the rugby club as part of a dwindling band of volunteers. Age and infirmity are taking their toll our latest recruit may possibly be older than the rest of us and therein lies the problem. With no younger blood coming through and no incentive to volunteer other than the “be part of the club” phrase that is used things such as maintenance, repairs, cleaning and groundworks will eventually only be carried out by paying contractors, or in rare cases like today by goodwill from club members and supporters.
The coming months where the club is committed to hosting events with a larger than normal attendance has seen a drive to bring the club up to the standards it should have been at and that we wanted it to be at.
Working today with the Clubhouse Manager we went out and got the much needed equipment and parts to prepare ourselves for “Five Match Saturday”. I won’t be there but I hope it goes well.
Todays main photograph shows myself in a tight ‘players fit’ club shirt with our new Fire & Safety contractors who tested the installed systems and supplied a complete new outfit of extinguishers.
I also collected Mrs S’s T4 from Richard of Friday coffee & tot fame who decided to treat Mrs S to an external valet of her beloved ‘Red Betty’. Clean and polished, in fact shining like a shiny thing Mrs S was a very happy lady when she arrived home.
Early evening was spent loading the T4 in preparation for an early departure in the morning.
‘Spring Camp’ at the River Dart Country Club here we come.
