Shrigley & Hunt

Shrigley & Hunt were a prominent firm of stained glass window makers based in Lancaster but their work can be found all over England. I came across this late Victorian window which has a familiar biblical scene at its centre. What intrigued me though were the six panels sitting above and below the central scene. These contain this delightful grape vine which winds its way across the bottom third of the window and then emerges above the biblical scene at the top of the window. Each of these six windows contains 30 smaller panes, with multiple different designs and a background that mimics hessian sacking.
