Natural Abstract
The pitcher plant on our porch, purchased at the Farmers' Market in the spring was looking decidedly the worse for all the winter rain and frost, but cutting off the worst of them revealed these rather interesting and delightfully curving buds. They're not like anything I've seen on this plant before but I had fun playing with high key photos and double exposures.
I think my knee is slowly getting better, but it's a sort of a two steps forward, one step backward sort of process. I ventured out to the sewing machine place with my trusty Bernina and John*, my trusty porter, since it weighs a ton and would undoubtedly set my knee back many steps with no forward progress should I pick it up. The prognosis was that it probably needs a new bobbin winding motor and hopefully not worse. Maybe I need a new bobbin winding motor too...sounds about right.
John has fared less well with his computer. He took it to the computer repair place where they think it needs a new motherboard, in which case he might as well get a new computer. The problem, as always, is transferring the data from the old to the new. They said they could do it, but called later to announce they need a 47 character password. Who has that? It will remain at the computer shop until Jim gets back from a business trip and can be consulted, since he went with John to buy the offending machine.
Our little glen here is alive with the sound of weed whackers, beeping trucks and all manner of construction vehicles. The grass, nurtured by all the rain is now as high as an elephant's eye and will soon be dry as a haystack. Thus all the mowing and weedwhacking.
They have taken all the siding off the 'bunker house' above us...the one that has been under construction since 2012. This is the house with the foundation wall backed with plywood that sat out in the weather for four years before a couple of prefab units were lowered onto it with a giant crane. It's hardly surprising that there is a problem with the siding that was nailed over it
*I took a picture of him in the sewing store ernestly trying to look like he was interested in the fabric and the long arm sewing machines....
