Viana do Castelo to Caminha (26km)
After a couple of really hot days, today definitely had a fresher feel to it, at least in the morning. After breakfast (not great) we set off at our usual time (about 8sh) but an hour later we were still trying to find our way out of town and on to the Camino! Once we were finally on it, we hugged the coast today and passed a lot of these beautiful old mills. We made good strides and met some interesting fellow pilgrims, including a Dubliner who at 76 was on his fifth and sadly final pilgrimage (his knees are not up to it). We walked most of the way with Geert, our new Dutch friend. No blisters today. We’re in a private hostel tonight with a lovely garden. Probably the most picturesque so far. It’s our last night in Portugal as tomorrow we cross over to Spain.
