Finding My Bearings

By JustJuli

A flower by any other name..?

Our lawn is currently full of these - Cardamine pratensis, also commonly known as the cuckoo flower, lady's smock, mayflower, or milkmaids.

It's the favoured food of orange tip butterflies but also apparently sacred to fairies, so unlucky if brought inside.

In reality, it's just an indication that our lawn badly needs mowing but we'll wait until the butterflies have had their fill before we risk the fairies’ wrath!
