Stone boat
I met my wife in the afternoon at the train station (SNCF logo as extra) after some event she attened and we took the train on a short trip to Dol-de-Bretagne. The maker's club there had an open weekened and we wanted to see what they were up-to. The train ride was quick and then there was a short walk to the hall where everyone was. It was rather geeky and though my French is dire IT and geek things are in English by default so I've a bit of a head start.
My wife is interesting in doing a project for children to teach them about IT, possibly using a Raspberry Pi over the school holidays. She is adamant she doesn't want to to be a boys only affair and we went to the event to see what they have going.
The main picture here is the stone boat of Dol, which is outside the cathederal. There are lots of crazy legends in Brittany, this one is about the founders (Saint Samson in this case) of Brittany escaping from Wales on a stone boat and founding the cathderal here. This boat is obviously fairly modern but is a reference to the story. The actual cathederal here was built, destroyed, rebuilt, abdandoned and reocupied - it's had a varied life...!
