There was a big tide today. We can't take the dog to the beaches against the sea, but we can take him to this beach that is along the river. Since they built the barrage, the there is still a significant tide here but there are no waves, and the tide times are not what they would be naturally.
When we arrived the river was at about it's lowest point and the water had pretty much drained out to sea, and the barrage was holding the incoming tide back until there was a sufficient difference to generate electricity.
The main picture is looking inland over am oilseed rape field, which is rather bold and jolly and in a few months will be filling the frying pans and diesel cars of France. The extra is a view of main section of the river between us and a small tidal island.
The fluffy one had a whale of a time scampering about in the mud, and today was the first time he's encountered deep gooey mud. With his four paw drive and light body he didn't get stuck which is good as I probably would have done trying to rescue him. He was a different colour and odour and needed a shower when he got home.
Backblip.
