1971
The nice thing about my neighbourhood is that approximately 1 in 10 people will have a cool old car for me to photograph. A guy on our street collects Jags and they're all parked outside his house looking nice and shiny.
After the craziness of yesterday, today was for relaxing. I had a lazy morning then went for a walk around the streets because the weather was lovely. I say it a lot, but I live in the best neighbourhood. So many people are so quirky and cool, the houses are often old terraces or converted warehouses and there are lots of cats and cars and front gardens to take sneaky photos of. There are always two or three houses per street being renovated, and someone is always watering the flowers or standing on their front porch watching the world go by. In the middle of a nice afternoon it feels very calm and quiet and lazy, despite the fact the the suburb is bordered by several of Melbourne's major roads.
I swung by the library on the way back and picked up a couple of books - sequels to one of Melina Marchetta's books that I didn't even realise existed - and spent the rest of the afternoon and evening reading the first one. It's amazing, and even though Melina Marchetta writes for late teens I think I'll be reading her books for as long as she'll write them!
What a great car! According to Dad it's a Ford Falcon from around 1971-72 (how does he know this??) and I tried to recreate a 70s feel by using my sunglasses as a filter again. Luckily for me the house it was parked outside is old as well so I feel like I captured that hazy old feel. I really like this one, and some of the others I took., so I'm really pleased with my little photo walk!
