The First

Not only the first of May but the first Iris to flower too! There seem to be hundreds coming up this year which is lovely!  Particularly thrilled to have so much honesty in flower too around this iris.  In the extra is a close up shot of the photinia flower buds.. looking fab too!
I finished cleaning the carpets with the rug doctor.. what a noise it makes but delighted to have made a real difference to some more heavily trafficked areas in the house and got rid of a few spot stains much to my delight. After that we headed out for a quick (not quite as quick as we thought) visit to our daughters allotment.. We had been keeping some pallets for her and they have been made into a compost bin for her now.. yippee.. out of our garden which is a huge relief and now being put to good use.. we also hoed and uncovered her tarpaulined area to investigate what was under it all.. there is a very smart long raised bed and we have saved enough cardboard for her to use to start a no dig veg plot.. exciting.. she was very grateful for the support and made us tea and flapjacks as a reward.. we sat in the sun and enjoyed that. We had such a lot to do on the allotment we didn't get to her boat to do the electrical work she needed doing on the boat but I think another evening visit may be made later this week to see if it can be sorted.
