Is it Really Worth It?

Moraea saxicola.  A beautiful member of the Iridaceae from South Africa.   Raised from seed sown in 2020, it's flowering for the first time this spring.  The flowers, produced in succession over a number of days, open at lunchtime and last for just a few hours!   And they are very small, about half an inch across, carried on a thin stem three to six inches high.  Each bulb produces just one grassy leaf.   They're a very fleeting, little, beauty which rather begs the question above!

A busy morning before I picked Bella up from Jamie's saw a load of washing thrashing about in the very gusty easterlies, pork in tomato sauce baking in the oven and everything packed for another trip to Birmingham.   The dogs and I met C for a walk at Rhydyronen where the wind eventually forced a slightly early retreat.  I think we were all glad to be out of it.

Lunch eaten, dry laundry untangled from the washing line and the kitchen clean and tidy, I found time to do a bit of pottery.  I haven't been able to get there this week but had brought a lump of clay home last week, just in case.   A slab laid over a mould and another cut to shape using paper stencils I had made turned out the extra pic
