Sailing
This morning our party of twelve headed off excitedly to the helicopter hanger. Us and our luggage was weighed and the pilot determined who went in which trip. It pays to invite some skinny people to balance out the chubby ones. I like helicopter flights and this one lived up to expectations with good visibility giving me a clear look at the tops of the mountains and faces with tarns of dark water. It was probably a twenty five minute flight. The part I was a little nervous about was the helicopter landing on a specially built pad on top of the boat. It seemed so small but the pilot put his machine down with precision. The boat was anchored in Long Sound at the head of Preservation Inlet. It took three trips to get everyone onto the boat. The extra shows the helicopter landed and Kristy about to get out. I had to stay under a roof when the helicopter lands or take off so I took this through the captains cabin window.
We chose our cabins and then assembled on the back deck for lunch followed by the safety briefing. The sun was shinning and people started removing layers. It was then kayaking and Marianne paddle boarded. Andy dived in for a swim and the forester did too but didn't have Andy's tolerance for cold water and came straight back on board. The main blip is Kathy paddling in the serene environment.
The boat cruised down to Revolver Bay to anchor for the night. We had a stupendous dinner of venison steaks, mash and two salads. A great start to the adventure.
