Life through the lens...

Sea pinks

Also known as Sea thrift. Botanical name, Armeria Maritima.
Of all the photos I have taken today my Blip just had to feature the sea thrift.
I can’t describe how stunningly beautiful it looks at the moment as you walk along the coastal path. My photo doesn’t do it justice.

After a traditional Sunday lunch at a local pub.
( Roast Beef, Yorkshire Puds. roast potatoes and five different veg.)
We drove down to Porthleven.
Oh what a glorious day! Warm sunshine all the way and 19/20C.
After looking round the little craft market we decided to have a walk along the coastal path.
You can see Rinsey Head in the distance and the white base of the Memorial Cross.
The cross was erected in 1949. In memory of the many mariners drowned on this part of the coast from time immemorial and buried on the cliffs hereabouts.
When we reached the cross a lady, who was sat reading, asked if we could hear the skylarks. So we stopped to listen, sat down with her and got chatting. ( as you do!)
Might have known she was a Yorkshire Lass, from Hebden Bridge, who had retired to Porthleven a few years ago. She is also part of a walking group, and was very interested in our Pudsey Ramblers, as well as the BPWs. Something she had thought about organising and was laughed at! However she is now going to get something organised, especially as in Cornwall you don’t have to wait until 9.30am to use your bus pass.
Just managed to get back to the car before the parking ticket ran out!

What a wonderful day.
Now back for a cuppa and piece of fruit cake.
Looking forward to tonight’s Coronation Concert. .....If I can stay awake!
