Patience of the Heron

I like this shot far more than I initially thought I would. We slipped up to Slimbridge in between heavy showers and I took lots of little bird shots; reed warbler and reed bunting (extras) in particular. The overall feel, however, of this full uncropped  (update: very slightly cropped) image expresses the patience of a heron who knows it will, eventually, stop raining. I love to the curves of the branches and the space below them, accentuated by my standing high on the earthworks that divides the Severn from the wetlands. The very wet lands...

and on a nature photo day, happy birthday Mr Attenborough. ;-)
