The Photographic Reconnaissance Spitfire PR Mk XIX

I could write about this Spitfire, but there's a great article about it here that you can read that will be much more interesting than anything I write.

Today we attended the 1940's Day at Tutbury Castle, or at least at what's left of it. Now a ruin, it was once an impressive structure that at one time was graced by the presence of Mary Queen of Scots. Not willingly you understand - she was kept prisoner there.

For 2 days a year the village of Tutbury ( Sav's home village ) goes back in time to the era of WWII and hosts this very well attended weekend full of soldiers of all nationalities ( well, men dressed as them ), airmen, land girls, doctors, nurses and members of the general public all dressed in the appropriate attire. Original tents are set up, displays of equipment and vehicles, items of the time, vintage clothing etc are all on display.

We were treated to a few minutes fly over by this Photographic Recon Spitfire which I had already decided would be my blip today, so luckily one of the 30 pics I took of it was in focus!
