Inspired by a rhododendron bloom.

I know that rhododendrons are now considered unsuitable for a garden. Their extensive root system and leaf litter is toxic to many other plants and, if left uncontrolled, will eventually dominate their habitat. However, our garden has an important collection of rhododendrons which has been painstakingly established by the original gardeners in the early 20th century. A great variety of indigenous plants grow alongside them and the garden is teaming with birds and other wildlife.
I am content to enjoy this delicate flower.
