Morning reflection.
We had our now regular walk around the St Ives estate this morning. It was still quite cool and overcast but we knew the forecast was for a sunny day.
Lots of bluebells still enhancing the woods as we entered the estate but we were soon up amongst the devastation.
Walking up behind Lady Blantyre’s Rock hasn’t changed very much but if you look over the wall there has been quite about of tree removal alongside the golf course. Along the top of the estate there are currently just isolated trees down but there are still quite a number with red markings identifying them for felling. I don’t think this area will look to different at the end of all this thankfully.
We had a coffee sat outside The Ivy Kitchen and the sun kept making a brief appearance.
We then walked along the side of Coppice Pond. At this time of year this rhododendron on the island always provides a lovely reflection, a swan in the shot would have made it but I didn’t see them. We believe the Pen is on her nest on the island but I couldn’t see her or evidence of any cygnets. The juveniles from last year’s brood were all we saw outcast at the bottom of the pond. I think Wilsden Walker will be the first to see and blip them.
Just beyond the island we did spot the darting movement of ducklings, too far away to count or photograph but good to see.
As we walked up the road home it was suddenly warm enough to remove my jacket and it’s been glorious all afternoon.
So out to do some gardening, taking care not to overdo it, while the lovely weather lasts. Skyegirl had posted some Lilly of the Valley and it reminded me to look for mine. They are almost hidden under the Weiglia near to the side fence in the back garden. I found about 4 or 5 plants but almost hidden amongst other things including brambles that needed pulling out.
